Tumble driers guzzle electricity
Save energy in washing

Here's how to save

  • Full load
Most machines will use the same energy whether you are washing a t-shirt or a week’s worth of clothes. So always run with a full load to save.
  • Low temperature
Most of the energy of a wash goes into heating the water. Most detergents work well at 30’C these days, so why waste money washing at hotter temperatures? Turn down the dial and save every time!
  • Standby
Just like other electronics, washing machines can be using “standby” electricity even when they are not working. Just switch off at the wall to make sure.
